DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT CROSS BUNS MELBOURNE BAKERY PENNY FOR POUND IS MIXING UP THE CLASSIC TREAT THIS EASTER!
Beloved Melbourne bakery Penny for Pound is bringing back it’s acclaimed Hot Cross Buns to celebrate this Easter. From February 20th Penny for Pound’s freshly baked Hot Cross Buns will be available in three fantastic flavours: Traditional, Double Chocolate and their signature, Sticky Date.
An oldie but a goodie, the traditional Hot Cross Bun features earl grey soaked raisins, currents and sultanas paired beautifully with the subtle zing of orange zest and cinnamon. Chocolate lovers can indulge in the Double Chocolate flavour, which is decadently filled with milk and dark chocolate chips. Those looking to try a Penny for Pound speciality, the Sticky Date hot cross bun has been crafted with the plumpest of dates and expertly caramelised white chocolate.
Paying homage to tradition while simultaneously challenging it, Penny for Pound has introduced a special 2024 twist to this year’s hot cross bun offering. In a brand-new partnership with local gelato shop, Holla Gelato, the team have crafted three signature gelatos that pair perfectly with each hot cross bun flavour – creating the ultimate Easter gelato sandwich.
A perfect mix of gelato and freshly baked hot cross bun, the gelatos have been meticulously designed to enhance each bun's flavour profiles.
Foodies looking to indulge in the special menu item can enjoy Penny’s traditional hot cross bun paired with a scoop of Holla's salted brown butter caramel gelato.
Sweet tooths can now enjoy double chocolate hot cross buns with an added scoop of milk chocolate gianduja gelato (hazelnut).
Those sticking to Penny for Pound’s exclusive sticky date hot cross buns can relish an energy boost with the delectable coffee pecan crunch gelato made using Melbourne's favourite Axil Coffee Roasters espresso shots.
Available for pre-order and in store from February 20th, the hot cross buns retail for $5 each, and can be purchased in a 6 pack for $24.
Hot cross bun gelato sandwiches retail for $9.50 individually and $35 for a take home pack, inclusive of a 500ml tub of gelato and 6 hot cross buns.
With every element made completely in-house, and fresh daily, Penny for Pound will offer Melbournians a scrumptious twist on an easter favourite.
