Two new venues to open in Melbourne, Bar Mexico and Hotel Mexico

The two new Mexican outposts, Bar Mexico and Hotel Mexico, slated to open in June and August respectively, will bring to life a vibrant fiesta atmosphere fuelled by authentic cuisine, drinks and entertainment.

Bringing the fiesta to Melbourne’s north, Bar Mexico will transform the old High Street Northside Food Hall into a Mexican haven with a focus on rich street food, beverages and lively entertainment. With over 50 Tequilas available for tasting, paired with rhythmic tones of Latin music and Mexican inspired DJ’s, Bar Mexico is set to become a popular addition to thriving High Street precinct.

Hotel Mexico will breathe new life to the inner west Yarraville institution ‘The Mersh’, infusing classic hotel charm with a modern twist through its newly designed feature bar, beer garden and versatile event space. Embracing a vibrant atmosphere, Hotel Mexico will embody the essence of a lively pub, offering a blend of handcrafted drinks, foodie delights and entertainment.

John Forman, owner at Bar Mexico and Hotel Mexico said, “We’re excited to introduce these vibrant additions to Melbourne, where guests can fully immerse themselves in the flavours and energy of Mexico. Tequila and Mexican Food are extremely popular staples around the globe, and we are keen to showcase our own piece of Mexico in the North and West of Melbourne.

“We hope guests embrace these new venues as they forge their own distinct legacy within Melbourne’s renowned hospitality scene,” said Forman.

Raising a toast to their namesake, Bar Mexico and Hotel Mexico have partnered with Agave Lux Australia to ensure its beverages offer an authentic taste of Mexico’s rich culture and heritage. Featuring a curated collection of over 50 Tequila, Mezcal and Raicilla sourced directly from distilleries across Mexico, guests can delight in a signature tequila flight, or an array of mouthwatering Margaritas and contemporary highballs. Spoilt for choice, drink highlights include the house classic Margarita, the Toreador which offers a delightful twist on an Apricot Margarita, the coconut, pineapple, and yuzu highball, as well as the signature El Diablo.

Both venues will offer visitors a fresh take on Mexican bar snacks, whilst staying true to the rich traditional flavours and heritage of Mexican cuisine. Standout dishes include the Birria Quesadilla and The Taco Feast, where guests curate their own taco sharing platter.

The design ethos of each venue is woven with influences from Hacienda style Mexican architecture, characterised by inviting elements that blend warm, soft stucco walls, rustic wood accents, traditional archways and authentic Mexican finishes. Drawing inspiration from the mid-century beach culture of Central America, the ambiance is further enriched with blockwork walls, eclectic lighting and art deco murals.

With capacity accommodating nearly 1000 guests between the two venues, Bar Mexico will open to the public on 13th June and is located at 39 High Street Preston, Hotel Mexico located at 238 Whitehall Street Yarraville will follow suit in August.
