Nominations now open for 2021 Victorian Sport Awards
CALLING ALL athletes, participants, teams, coaches, administrators and volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution across all levels of sport in Victoria during last year. For many years, the Victorian Sport Awards (VSAs) has recognised everyone both in and around your sport arena so we would like to hear about your contribution.
Monday 14 February is the opening date for nominations for the 2021 Victorian Sport Awards (VSAs), the most prestigious event on the state’s sporting calendar, and Vicsport is asking for the heroes of Victorian sport to come forward and be recognised by nominating yourself or others who are worthy.
From those at a grassroots level all the way up to the elite athletes who excelled at the Tokyo Olympic Games, 19 categories are open for nominations with State Sporting Associations, Regional Sport Assemblies, teammates, club members, coaches as well as the local community able to nominate.

“2021 was another tough year for Victorians, impacting our physical and mental health as well as our livelihoods while challenging us to again find new ways to cope. These Awards provide an opportunity to highlight the positive aspects of the year, celebrating the people who responded to those challenges and kept the sport and recreation sector thriving. Many have made a significant difference in the most difficult of times and are therefore deserved of the recognition these awards provide.”
The Victorian Sport Awards is the night of nights for the Victorian sporting community and proudly presented by the State Government of Victoria and Vicsport.
Each year, the VSAs receives hundreds of nominations that celebrate the exceptional members of the Victorian sporting community.
The quality and breadth of the nominations received makes selecting the finalists a difficult endeavour. Over 30 highly qualified Victorian sports people, comprising Olympians, former athletes and Victorian sport administrators, constitute the judging panels charged with picking the finalists across the 19 categories.
Last year’s judges included:
· Four-time Olympic marathon runner – Steve Moneghetti AM OLY
· 12-time national hurdles champion – Kyle Vander Kuyp OLY
· Victorian Institute of Sport CEO – Anne Marie Harrison
· OneAthletics CEO – Kate Palmer
Nominations for the Awards open on Monday 14 February, 2022 and close on Wednesday 16 March, 2022 via the Vicsport website - vicsport.com.au/2021-victorian-sport-award-nominations
Scheduled to be held on Wednesday 15 June, 2022 at CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park, the newest venue within the Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct, the Victorian Sport Awards can be attended by all entrants, nominees, family, friends, sporting organisations and clubs to celebrate the successes of community sport in Victoria.

Twenty awards will be presented, 19 of which can be nominated by the Victorian sporting community in addition to the most prestigious award of the night - the State Government Outstanding Contribution to Victorian Sport Award.
