Beach 5s launch season on Gold Coast

The 7th Gold Coast Beach 5s Spring Festival at beautiful Greenmount Beach on the Gold Coast will officially launch the 2023/2024 Beach 5s season, proudly presented by Daikin.

Beach 5s is taking Australia and New Zealand by storm and is a five-a-side sand-based competition based on modified rules from Rugby League, Rugby Union and Touch Football.

With no line outs, scrums or conversions it’s the game you know and love – but not as you know it!

The Gold Coast event has over 60 registered teams, from Under 12 juniors to Men’s and Women’s Seniors and Masters.

 Event Director Peter Hickey says, “Beach 5s Australia and New Zealand is a fun and exciting summer sport that women, men and youth can play at some of the best beaches in Australia and New Zealand.  

Beach 5s brings together our love of the beach and sport in a new game open to all.  We have seen Footy Legends from both codes, like Johnathan Thurston, Phil Waugh, Kurt Gidley and Lote Tuqiri embrace Beach 5s and look forward to seeing more and more people playing this summer season.”
