Gathering Of Kindness
OUR CHALLENGE
We have been delighted to be selected to tell Australia about the annual Gathering of Kindness from 2019 to 2023.
The Gathering of Kindness invites everyone to envisage a kind health system – a system that is safer and more satisfying for patients, residents, families, and staff.
The Gathering of Kindness is a growing social movement bringing together the healthcare workforce, academics, researchers, authors, patients, families, and people from all walks of life.
A week of events is held around Australia in the lead-up to World Kindness Day in November each year.
OUR RESPONSE
We proposed a campaign that used Prof Catherine Crock OAM, the founder of the Gathering of Kindness, and her powerful personal experiences driving change across the healthcare system to lead the campaign.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has continually brought new anxiety, stress, and challenges to our healthcare workers and was used as an angle to make the story relevant and timely for media.
International and Australian experts, healthcare professionals, and members of the public with human-centred stories increase the reach of the campaign each year.
OUR OUTCOMES
The campaign generally commences a month our from World Kindness Day and includes media of all types across Australia, with an emphasis on health editors, writers and outlets.
Highlights have included Good Weekend magazine in both The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, ABC Radio National Breakfast interviews, ABC Radio Sydney Focus program feature, ABC Radio Conversations with Richard Fidler, ABC Radio National Life Matters, ABC Radio National God Forbid, 3AW Great Australian Lives interview, multiple interviews on ABC Radio around Australia.
Coverage drives attendance at events as well as increases interest in the Gathering and its philosophy.
