Classical guitar virtuoso Slava Grigoryan's new single release ‘Winter City Lights’ is a preview from his upcoming solo album ‘Gratitudes’ which will be released on Friday 19 May, 2023.
The album is a collection of entrancing guitar compositions, commissioned by The Hush Foundation, a charity that transforms healthcare environments through the healing power of music.
Slava began writing the album during the pandemic to express his thanks for the “dedication and spirit” of healthcare workers who cared for us during this stressful time. For Slava, “Each of these pieces is a note of thanks, a little letter of gratitude, for all of the extraordinary work they continue to do in looking after us."
When composing the single ‘Winter City Lights’, Slava “imagined a very cold winter morning, pre-dawn, and a nurse heading home from a long and arduous shift. The warmth of home is beckoning and at the same time they’re reflecting on the challenges at work.”
Professor Catherine Crock AM, Hush Founder and Chair said: “Our healthcare workers have tirelessly supported patients throughout the pandemic and this has come at a cost, with many people working in our hospitals facing ongoing stress, anxiety, and burn-out”.
“We know that gratitude helps us all cope with stressful experiences by reminding us about what is positive in our lives. We’re delighted to share a preview from this wonderful album by Slava who has a gift for composing music with kindness.”
The Hush Foundation has been working with renowned Australian artists for 20 years to create music that transforms stressful hospital and healthcare environments.
‘Gratitudes’ is a tender album that has been composed with care by one of Australia’s most remarkable artists.
