Emerge Cultural Leadership Workshops 2017 – Presented by Multicultural Arts Victoria

Multicultural Arts Victoria has developed a new series of Cultural Leadership Workshops in consultation with local governments, artists and community leaders in Wyndham and Brimbank that will run every Saturday in February and March 2017.

Culturally diverse artists and community leaders in Melbourne’s west are invited to participate in the series of FREE workshops to share ideas and develop skills in community leadership and cultural management. The workshops will take place at the Central Park Community Centre (Wyndham) and Performing Arts Centre St Albans and will provide unique opportunities for participants to network build leadership and management skills, get to know their local governments and cultural sectors, and discuss common issues with peers and experts.

Lunch will be provided each day in between workshops.

WORKSHOP TOPICS:

START UP – PROJECT PLANNING AND DESIGN

This interactive workshop will provide practical information on project planning and design. It covers:

  • developing project ideas and project management principles
  • strengthening your group’s capacity to design and deliver quality, inclusive projects
  • how to increase community participation
  • strategies to attract support for your project

CONNECTING WITH YOUTH

This training session will provide information on successful ways to engage and work with young people and about what your local Council is doing.

EFFECTIVE GRANT WRITING

This interactive and fun workshop will provide practical, useful and transferable information on how to approach the grant making process. It covers:

  • Writing the 50 word grab
  • Developing a budget for a funding application
  • Tackling the evaluation and sustainability questions.

Local Council will discuss key issues facing communities when running events, the presenters will introduce communities to various branches of local council.
